SOUTHEAST CHAPTER TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL SURVEYORS

Quarterly Report - November 21th, 2019

The Southeast Chapter of TAPS continues to meet on the third Tuesday of every odd month at Wally's Restaurant in East Ridge, TN for our business meetings. We gather around 6:00 for dinner and the meeting is usually called to order at 6:30. We also hold a Social event on the third Tuesday of the even months. These gatherings are relaxed and informal and they take place at the Pour House in Chattanooga, TN.

Surveyors in our area continue to enjoy a steady flow of work. We've had two business meeting since the last quarterly report. The next one will take place in January. Attendance has been fairly good at both the business meetings and the socials. During the last couple of business meeting we've discussed the CFS class, the SE Chapter webinar put on by Mario Forte, the YouTube video of our July business meeting that was posted online by Don Van Hook, the latest BOD meeting and associated lobbyist and BOE reports, and upcoming and proposed updates to the Hamilton County Subdivision procedures.

This early in the year, our membership is still down with only 6 full members and 2 associate members having paid their dues at this point, but we are expecting quite a few more to come in over the next month or so. As always, we encourage everyone in the area to attend either a business meeting or one of our social events if the opportunity presents itself.

Sincerely,

Michael Coulliette, RLS President Southeast Chapter of TAPS 423-877-4778 mike@cmlandsurveying.com

Quarterly Report - September 11th, 2019

The Southeast Chapter of TAPS continues to meet on the third Tuesday of every odd month at Wally's Restaurant in East Ridge, TN for our business meetings. We usually gather around 6:00 for dinner and the meeting is called to order at 6:30. We also hold a Social on the third Tuesday of the even months. These social gatherings have recently taken place at the Pour House in Chattanooga, TN.

Surveyors in our area are still enjoying a steady flow of work. We've only had one business meeting since the last quarterly report. The next one is scheduled for the 17th of this month. Attendance has been fairly good at both the business meetings and the socials. During the last business meeting we discussed the TN School Counselors and Leadership Conference, the upcoming CFS class, an SE Chapter sponsored webinar this fall, the last BOD meeting, the Chattanooga Development Symposium, and several other topics. In addition, Don Van Hook recorded the meeting and is testing out the possibility of posting these meetings on YouTube.

Our membership seems to be holding fairly steady at 15 RLS members and 3 associate members, but as always, we would gladly welcome more. Everyone in the area, licensed or not, is highly encouraged to attend either a business meeting or one of our social events.

Sincerely,

Michael Coulliette, RLS President Southeast Chapter of TAPS 423-877-4778 mike@cmlandsurveying.com

SOUTHEAST CHAPTER TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL SURVEYORS Quarterly Report - June 7, 2019

The Southeast Chapter of TAPS meets on the third Tuesday of every odd month at Wally's Restaurant in East Ridge, TN for our business meetings. We usually gather around 6:00 for dinner and the meeting is called to order at 6:30. We also hold a Social on the third Tuesday of the even months at The Honest Pint in Chattanooga, TN. Surveyors in our area are enjoying a steady flow of work, as I'm sure they are across the entire state. With that said, and with the proximity of our March meeting to the spring conference, we didn't actually have enough attendance for a quorum at our March meeting. During the other meetings we have discussed many different ideas and concerns, including the GPS deadline, local area subdivision checklists, TN School Counselors and Administrators Leadership Conference, a Fall Southeast Chapter Seminar, the possibility of posting our meetings on YouTube, and many other important topics. In April of this year we lost one of the cornerstones of the land surveying community in the southeastern area of TN. James G. Copp was an extremely competent and dependable surveyor. While we all strive to perform great work, James made a habit of it, and he always seemed to leave enough evidence behind that following in his footsteps was an easy task. He will be greatly missed. Our membership seems to be holding fairly steady, but as always, we would welcome more members. Everyone in the area is highly encouraged to attend either a business meeting or a social and should seriously consider joining the Southeast Chapter. It is time well spent. Sincerely, Michael Coulliette, RLS President Southeast Chapter of TAPS 423-877-4778 mike@cmlandsurveying.com
